Outdoor Outings for Kids: Bear Valley Visitor Center in Point Reyes

Our go-to spot for family hikes and outdoor excursions in Marin is the Bear Valley Visitor Center at Point Reyes National Seashore. It's a wonderful place for kids and adults alike to learn about nature and local history and explore the outdoors. It has so much to offer: picnics, hikes, views, and wildlife.

New Orleans-Style Red Beans and Rice

A favorite dish in New Orleans Creole cuisine, red beans and rice doesn't take a lot of effort to make and everyone loves it. It's traditionally served on Mondays, and consists of red beans slowly simmered with vegetables and smoked meats like sausage and ham and served over rice. I like to make this on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon so we have plenty of leftovers for weekday meals.

Tender Tracks Outdoor Nature Awareness Preschool

The unique Tender Tracks Forest outdoor preschool program honors and respects the inherent need for young children to have ample time with nature, in order to develop a healthy bond and relationship to the natural world and all who dwell therein. Find out more about this unique program at their informational nights on Saturday, February 17 and March 3 from 6:30 to 8 pm.
