15 Fun Things to do With the Kids the Week of October 19–25

The Goblin Jamboree takes place at the Bay Area Discovery Mueum in Sausalito this weekend, October 24–30.

Here's our weekly list of 15 fun things to do with the kids this week, October 19–25. From Halloween events and crafts to a science festival and virtual storytimes, there's something for everyone.

Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration or fees, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!

  1. Harry Potter fans: make your own butterbeer with our easy recipe.
  2. Join the fun at Music in the Park with JAMaROO Kids, Mondays, Old Mill Park (10–10:30 am) & Blackie's Pasture (11:45 am–12:15 pm).
  3. Sing songs and listen to stories with Toddler Storytime at the Belvedere Tiburon Library; new episodes on Mondays, YouTube.
  4. Make a cute pumpkin and more out of popsicle sticks with this easy Halloween craft.
  5. Check out one of our favorite Halloween books for pick-up at your local Marin County library.
  6. Stroll along the water on the Tiburon bike path.
  7. Finf the perfect pumpkin at Petaluma Pumpkin Patch and A'Mazing Corn Maze.
  8. The Bay Area Science Festival, Northern California's largest free educational event, returns October 21–25!
  9. Share nursery rhymes, finger play, songs, and stories at Babies & Books from Larkspur Library. Wednesday, October 21, 11:30 am
  10. Reserve your tickets for the reopening of the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park, Friday, October 23.
  11. Celebrate Halloween at the Bay Area Discovery Museum's annual Goblin Jamboree fundraiser, Saturday, Octover 24–Saturday, October 31, 9 am and 2:30 pm.
  12. Make some homemade pumpkin soup and serve it up in a hollow pumpkin!
  13. Virtual Halloween Magic Show with Mike Della Penna presented by Larkspur Library, Thursday, October 22, 3 pm.
  14. Visit the animals and hike at Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma.
  15. Visit the Oakland Zoo for Boo at the Zoo and a flamingo scavenger hunt. Saturday, October 24–Saturday, October 31, 10 am–4 pm
