Fun Things to do in Marin and the Bay Area this Week: August 2-8

Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of August 2–8. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more that you can use to help plan out your week.
Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!
Monday, August 2
- Explore the Children's Museum of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, 9 am–4 pm.

Come to the Fairfax Library for a family storytime for ages 0–5. 10–11 am.

Make your reservation to swim and splash at the Hamilton Community Pool in Novato.

Make a pot of our fresh and healthy summer chili for dinner.
Tuesday, August 3
- Enjoy free general admission to the de Young and the Legion of Honor museums in San Francisco.
- Get out the blender and have the kiddos help makes some health and delicious smoothies.
- Visit the animals and ride the Little Puffer at the San Francisco Zoo, 10 am– 5 pm daily.
- Shop for fresh produce, picnic and enjoy the live music at Tuesday's Sonoma Farmers Market, Sonoma Plaza, 5–8 pm.
Wednesday, August 4
- Visit the animals and picnic at Tolay Lake Regional Park in Petaluma.
- Make simple hand puppets with Randal Metz from Children's Fairyland.
- Run, swing and play at one of our 5 favorite playgrounds in Marin.
- Have a blast at the Sonoma County Fair Summer Funfest Carnival in Santa Rosa. Opens at noon Wednesday–Sunday

Thursday, August 5
- Visit the Pacific Coast Air Museum in Santa Rosa for Hot Dog Thursday and to explore historic aircraft. 11:30 am–1:30 pm.
- Play in the park, picnic, and ride the carousel at the Golden Gate Park Playground in San Francisco.
- Take the kiddos on an amazing train ride in Northern California.
Friday, August 6
- Mariela’s Music Time an, interactive bilingual performance for the littles and their families, San Rafael Library, 10:30 am via Zoom. Register here.
- Visit Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for Movie Nights at the Mart: Wall-E, 6 pm.
- Grab your low chairs or blankets as the free Jazz and Blues by the Bay presents Big Harp George at Gabrielson Park in Sausalito. 6:30 pm
- Take a "Road Trip" with Transcendence Theatre Company at Jack London State Historic Park. Friday–Sunday, 7:30 pm
Play at the beach and bubble garden at the Bay Area Discovey Museum in Sausalito, Wednesday–Sunday, 9 am– 4pm.
Saturday, August 7
- Make a sweet treat! Easy-to-make peach crumble.
- Take an excursion train ride in Old Sacramento.
- Enjoy a free outdoor concert on Novato's Civic Green with Pacific Standard. 5–7 pn
- The Lark Drive In screens Disney's The Little Mermaid at the Village in Corte Madera. 8:50 pm
- Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Shrek at 5 pm and Monsters Inc. at 7 pm, Weill Hall on the Lawn, Rohnert Park.
Sunday, August 8
- Shop for fresh produce at Sunday's Civic Center Marin Farmers Market, 8 am–1 pm.
- Grab lunch at a food truck at the Marin Country Mart, Larkspur Landing, Sunday, 11 am–3 pm.
- Stop by the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco for hands-on fun on Free First Sundays, 10 am–5 pm.
- Enjoy a free live concert at Corte Madera's Piccolo Pavilion with Kimoko Joy and the RubaDub Posse. 5–6:30 pm
