Fun Things to do in Marin and the Bay Area this Week: June 28–July 4

Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of June 28–July 4. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more that you can use to help plan out your week.
Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!
Monday, June 28
- It's not too late to join the summer reading program at your local Marin County library.
- Bring the kiddos to Sausalito's Playland for an amazing indoor bounce house experience. Advance registration required.
- Cool off and have a blast at a Bay Area water park.
- Get your home ready for Independence Day with this easy-to-make patriotic wind sock craft.
Tuesday, June 29
- Head to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to ride the rides and play at the beach. Open daily.
- Take the kiddos to play and burn off some energy at Hal Brown Park at Creekside in Greenbrae.
- Check out the new Sharks exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park.
- Make your reservation to swim and splash at the Hamilton Community Pool in Novato.
Wednesday, June 30
- See the movie How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World for only $1.50 at Century Rowland Plaza or Northgate 15, 9:30 am.
- Drop-in for some outdoor Music Time with Megan, Wednesday–Friday at various locations throughout Marin (see schedule on Facebook)
- Picnic and play in the sand at Chicken Ranch Beach in Inverness.
- Shop for fantastic local produce and foods at the Fairfax Community Farmers Market in Bolinas Park, 4–8 pm
Thursday, July 1
- Take the kiddos paddling on a fun kayak adventure.
- Enjoy outdoor story time on the Novato Library's back lawn. For ages 0–5, 10:30–11 am
- Take a drive out to the Marin Headlands for a hike or beach fun.
- Dine out with the family and enjoy a meal under the lights downtown San Rafael, Thursdays & Fridays, 5–9 pm.
Friday, July 2
- Take the kiddos on an awesome summer hike in Marin.
- Explore the Presidio and Crissy Field in San Francisco.
- Visit Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for Movie Nights at the Mart: Up, 6 pm.
- Enjoy al-fresco dining, curbside shopping, live entertainment, and a fun space for families at Slow Streets in Downtown Tiburon, Friday afternoons to Sunday evenings.
Saturday, July 3
- Pick your own organic blueberries at Duckworth Family Farm in Sebastopol. Advance registration required.
- Use your farm-fresh u-pick blueberries to make this easy and delicious blueberry cobbler.
- Experience Bay Area Children's Theatre's Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus (complete with real bus) at Fort Mason. Shows at 10 am and noon.
- Create patriotic baker's clay jewelry for the 4th of July
Sunday, July 4
- Visit Cavallo Point in Sausalito for shopping, kids' activities, and a 4th of July BBQ. 11 am–1 pm
- See the San Rafael Pacifics as they take on the Martinez Sturgeon at Albert Park. 6:30 pm
- Book a 4th of July fireworks cruise with the Angel Island Tiburon Ferry. Boats board at 8 pm.
- Watch Petaluma's 4th of July fireworks show at Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds. 9–10 pm
- Sonoma's 4th of July fireworks show takes place over General Vallejo's Field at dusk (approximately 9:30 pm)
- Pier 39 is a great place to see the magnificent San Francisco fireworks display, beginning at 9:30 pm.
