Keep the kiddos busy! Here's out list of fun things to do with the kids for the week of May 24–31. We've broken it down day-by-day with suggestions for activities, outings, events, and more. We'll update this list every Monday so you can use it to help plan out your week.
Keep in mind that some of these activities require advance registration, so check the organizer's website before you attend. If you have something fun you'd like to share, please let us know and we'll consider it for next week's list!
Monday, May 24
- Drop-in for Toddler open play (ages 1–5) at Gymworld in San Rafael, Monday & Wednesday, 10:30 am–12:30 pm. No registration required.
- Explore the Children's Museum of Sonoma County in Santa Rosa, 9 am–4 pm.
- Learn about ladybugs with online Pint-Size Storytime present by the San Rafael Public Library
Tuesday, May 25
- Make a sweet treat! Easy-to-make peach crumble.
- Tune in daily at 10:30 am and 3 pm for live penguin feeding at Cal Academy of Sciences.
- Take a walk along Phoenix Lake in Ross.
Wednesday, May 26
- Join the Exploratorium for Storytime Science, a storybook read-aloud followed by a simple activity geared toward young children.
- Learn the science of making your own bubbles.
- Explore a new playground in Marin.
- Chill in the sun and play in the sand at the Bay Area Discovery Museum's new beach. Wednesday–Monday, 9 am–4 pm.
Thursday, May 27
- Make simple hand puppets with Randal Metz from Children's Fairyland.
- Pick your own sweet organic cherries at Dwelley Family Farms in Brentwood. Open Thursday–Sunday, 8 am–4 pm.
- Dine out with the family and enjoy a meal under the lights downtown San Rafael, Thursdays & Fridays, 5–9 pm.
Friday, May 28
- Check out the new "Sharks" exhibit at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Opens Friday, May 28!
- Walk or bike on the Bay Trail at the Hamilton Wetlands in Novato
- Head to Johnson's Beach in Guerneville for Russian River fun. Reserve your spot here.
- Take a family road trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Make sure to reserve your tickets in advance.
Saturday, May 29
- Visit the de Young Museum or Legion of Honor for free on Saturday, advance tickets required.
- Take the ferry to Angel Island for a day of hiking and exploring.
- Take an excursion train ride in Old Sacramento.
- Head to the Lark Drive-In at the Village at Corte Madera for a screening of Disney's original animated Aladdin. Saturday, 8:45 pm.
Sunday, May 30
- Get some organic strawberries at one of the many Marin Farmers Markets and make strawberry shortcake.
- Head to a Marin County beach for a day of fun, sun, and sand.
- Enjoy brunch and live music at Strawberry Village in Mill Valley, weekends from 11:30 am–2:30 pm
- Grab lunch at a food truck at the Marin Country Mart, Larkspur Landing, Sunday, 11 am–3 pm.
Monday, May 31
- Have a family BBQ for Memorial Day today.
- The Bay Area Discovery Museum is open on Memorial Day. Reserve your spot now!
- Make a fresh batch of strawberry lemonade.
- Hike and visit the beach at the Marin Headlands.
